Jacob & Co Astronomia tourbillon baguette: the universe on your wrist
The universe on the wrist: There is no other way to describe Jacob & Co’s Astronomia.
This watch is a testimony to the development of the watchmaking industry, not as a practical science, but as an art form.
Yes, the Astronomia Society told the time. But this is just the missing detail in the visual impact provided by this watch.
Promote design to art
The Astronomia Tourbillon Baguette has a diameter of 50 mm and is a large watch.
Other watches may be severely judged with this size diameter, and Astronomia uses all these spaces to create a visual brilliance, even in today’s wild watch world, it is also very unique.
I dare say that Jacob & Co should even be praised, because in fact created this unique timepiece as a fairly easy-to-wear watch, rather than choosing to turn it into an exquisite clock.
I was lucky enough to wear Astronomia and found that the watch is very balanced on my wrist. If it were not for the thickness of 25 mm, it could indeed become a daily-wear watch, and it would not easily slip under the shirt cuffs.
However, this is a small matter and can be easily solved by visiting your tailor shop to purchase a few new custom shirts. .. Or give up the sleeves altogether.
Astronomia is a watch that can be watched, appreciated, and, yes, can be used to watch.
Jacob & Co fashion, the founder of the brand, knew this very well and designed the Astronomia case as a frame with a sapphire window on the side of the watch. The high domed sapphire crystal on this and the top allows you to see the movement from a variety of different angles, making you not sure which angle shows the most impressive movement.
Without an angle, the tall dome crystal is almost invisible, and the watch doesn’t look as high as the statistics show.
Complex movement
Despite the fact that most exercise is actually visible, your brain is not making connections. It may be because all the different complications are distracting, or you realize that there is something very special and precious on your wrist.
What makes this watch more special is not that it is equipped with a three-axis tourbillon, but that the three-axis tourbillon is not the core of this watch.
In fact, it is unclear what the core of this watch might be. Is it a tourbillon or a spherical cut diamond representing the moon?
Or the balanced lacquered magnesium ball on the opposite side of the diamond moon?
Let’s also not forget the most practical part of this best fake watch: the sub-dial displays the hours and minutes moving around the watch, always standing upright for immediate reading.
The watch is full of movement in both meanings of the term: the tourbillon rotates on the first axis for 60 seconds, the second axis rotates for 5 minutes, and the entire movement is turned in 20 minutes. Both the earth and the diamond moon rotate on their axis in 60 seconds, while the indicator dial rotates on the central axis in 20 minutes.
From these numbers, you can already see that Astronomia only displays the time. It will not tell you the current phase of the moon, nor will it use the globe to provide world time in a complicated way.
This may disappoint some people, but it also gave Jacob & Co more artistic freedom, and the brand seized this opportunity. Creating a visual wonder is the main goal. The winding and setting mechanism is located on the back of the watch, so there is no crown to interfere with the beautiful case design.
Diamonds are forever
Although the regular version of Astronomia is already breathtaking, the “rectangular” version adds 359 rectangular-cut diamonds (15.77 carats). Most of them are saved by an invisible setting on the “dial”.
This is a masterpiece because the gemstone is also slightly inclined upward near the center of the dial. The same is true for the diamond setting on the lugs, especially the fan-shaped side of the inlaid gemstone, which is again invisible.
Arabo, known as “Jeweler Jacob”, has a reputation for diamonds. Therefore, they have the highest quality: top Wesselton and internally flawless (IF) to very small inclusions (VVS1). jacob and co astronomia dragon
Normally, such high-quality diamonds will be displayed in platinum or platinum inlays so that the color of the metal will not affect the colorless quality of the diamond. However, by setting them in 18-carat pink gold like Arabo, you will get an amazing contrast that better balances the complex appearance of diamonds and Astronomia technology compared to white precious metals.
The only question left is whether Astronomia belongs to the world of watchmakers or jewelers. In this regard, we can only answer: both!
