HYT H2 Titanium Black DLC
The realization of a crazy idea, a wearable micro nuclear reactor or a chemical laboratory, the application of crazy fluid mechanics formulas in real life…what am I talking about…? HYT H2 Titanium Black DLC..!
The word “extraordinary” is a common term in the watch industry, but there are only a handful of timepieces that are truly extraordinary. Brands continue to create different designs and functions to surprise watch lovers. HYT once again challenges the limits of micromechanics from the high end.
HYT started its business in 2012 with the H1 model. The new brand continues to be H2 featuring improvements and upgrades. Considered a work of art, HYT H2 was created by design master APRP (Audemars Piguet Renaud Papi). While continuing on the road of traditional watchmaking, APRP Group continues to fascinate watch lovers with extraordinary timepieces.
Before we take a closer look at the most important feature of the H2, the movement, we think it’s best to take a look at the stunning case. The large case size is 48.8 mm x 17.9 mm, which is unexpectedly comfortable to wear on the wrist, mainly because its lug design prevents the large case from becoming an uncomfortable problem. In addition, the light weight of DLC-coated titanium contributes to significant comfort.
The finishing quality of the case is very high. The combination of satin-brushed and sandblasted surfaces eliminates the flatness of the black finish and supports the sporty characteristics of the watch. The DLC coating helps the case to withstand the scratches that may occur due to normal wear and tear. Unlike other black materials such as ceramics, titanium is almost unbreakable.
The screw-in crown of the watch adopts a dynamometer design to avoid the risk of damage caused by misoperation. The rubber coating on the crown facilitates a good grip, but it may also wear out to an unpleasant state. This wear time is prolonged due to the protective bumps around the rubber parts.
Both the front and back of the watch adopt double sapphire crystal mirrors, and the front crystal surface adopts AR coating. The rated value of HYT H2 is WR50M.
The movement of a watch can easily become the subject of a doctoral dissertation. Theoretically, time is shown by a highly visible fluid that uses a pressure difference to pass through very thin pipes. The pressure difference is generated by a pair of pistons located at the bottom of the watch. Unlike H1, H2 uses a “V”-shaped piston layout, which looks like an engine block. When one piston generates positive pressure, the other generates negative pressure, allowing the liquid to flow precisely in the thin tube.
Traditionally, the minute is displayed by the minute hand. At 12 o’clock, the piston will move back to its starting point like a retrograde display, causing liquid to flow back into its chamber. This process is definitely a visual feast. The dial layout of H2 is different from the usual design. Due to the position of the piston and the bottom of the liquid chamber, the minute hand passes through the chamber at 6 o’clock, which makes reading the watch a bit tricky at first.
The balance spring of the watch is exposed. In fact, it would be unfair to the user if the precisely manufactured movement and other parts are covered. Another interesting feature of the watch is the thermometer located in the dial. Liquids have different expansion coefficients at a certain temperature.
Although HYT engineers seem to have overcome this problem, some extreme conditions may cause the time to be displayed incorrectly. Therefore, the temperature information of the movement is displayed on the dial.
H2 is equipped with a rubber strap and a DLC-coated titanium folding clasp. Both parts received full marks in terms of quality and aesthetics. Our biggest disappointment is due to the lack of phosphorus in the liquid for night reading. HYT design tells that the feature model will glow like a flashlight, but it will be amazing to see this H2 glow in the dark. The three-dimensional design of the dial makes you want to watch it for hours. Although the size of the watch seems to be negative, the technical and visual appearance of the watch makes the size irrelevant.
In fact, this watch has no competitors because of its technology, but considering other exotic brands MB&F, Urwerk, Richard Mille and Harry Winston, their appearance and price tag are also very attractive.
