Porsche Design is not only manufacturing leather products and sunglasses. This is not our material on monochromatic watches. The word “blog” appears in the name of our blog. If we have to talk about Porsche Design, it is undoubtedly an interesting timepiece for them. The black theme and chronograph have always been part of Porsche’s DNA. In order to maintain this spirit, the following are two new faithful versions: Porsche Design Timepiece No.1 and Chronograph Titanium Limited Edition.

There is no doubt that Ferdinand Alexander Porsche is one of the truly great designers of the 20th century. He conceived one of the most famous and legendary sports cars in the world; the Porsche 911. F.A.Porsche or Butzi, he graduated from the Hochschulefür Gestaltung (HfG) design school in Ulm, which was founded by Max Bill, a former student of the Bauhaus University in Dessau. The Bauhaus art movement focused on the aesthetics of everyday objects, reducing ornaments to basic pure geometric shapes. The Bauhaus course restores the basic content, advocating symmetry, subtlety and consistency. The beauty lies in the simplicity and practicality of the function, which seems to be the cornerstone of Butzi’s design thinking. After a family dispute with Dr. Ferdinand Piech, Butzi left the company in 1972 and established the Porsche Design Studio in Stuttgart. His first product is a watch, a chronograph, which looks weird and unique, and incorporates all the design attributes he likes.
Chronograph I am the first watch so far that goes against the traditional design of chronographs. Because of its appearance, it has become a classic that defines the style: it is black and has never been seen before. Porsche chose to use an industrial process called PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) to complete the case. PVD is mainly used in military applications, initially designed to reduce the friction and wear of metal parts. PVD coatings in replica watches for sale are usually used to improve hardness, wear resistance and oxidation resistance. The chronograph I have a black coating on the case and bracelet, in addition to its invisibility and unique appearance, it also has anti-glare properties. The procedures encountered first in watchmaking undoubtedly created trends that many people follow (for example, Heuer). The breakthrough is not just the color of the watch. This is the entire watch itself. Porsche (Butzi Porsche) embraced Bauhaus (Bauhaus) aesthetics and designed a powerful watch that perfectly blends functionality and aesthetics. There is no decoration there. The multifunctional watch case improves comfort, and the dial also adds to this purpose. The movement used is Valjoux Cal.7750, which is a reliable and reliable new chronograph movement.
Initially, Porsche Butzi chose Orfina Watch Company to produce watches. They are very cool and highly sought after in the 1970s. The Porsche name on the dial makes the company flourish. In 1978, Valjoux model 7750 was changed to Lemania model 5100. The more robust movement designed for arduous use has greatly opened up the market, and the military contracts with the German Bundeswehr and the Venezuelan Armed Forces are the most significant. Special versions (Tiger, NATO, Royal Navy) have also been introduced, while other PVD colors (khaki green, royal blue, and even camouflage in some prototypes) are provided.
When Butzi decided to cooperate with IWC in 1978, Orfina’s chapter was over. ButziPorsche met his ideal sparring partner at IWC, and his dedicated CEO Günter Blümlein, who produced iconic watches like OCEAN 2000. After the Porsche family bought the old Swiss brand Eterna, a new era began in 1998. However, in the last few months of 2014, Porsche Design decided to continue producing timepieces entirely produced by Porsche Design. These watches are the first watches developed entirely in-house and continue to use the same design principles of the legendary I chronograph.

Without any decoration. The watch’s case, dial and overall design embody this purism. These two automatic chronographs were completely developed by Porsche Design Watch Company based in Solothurn, Switzerland, and have also been manufactured in Switzerland. Both timepieces use a case made of titanium with a diameter of 42 mm. The black case of the No. 1 timepiece has been sandblasted and then coated (PVD) to make the matte black surface more durable. In terms of technical features, both models are equipped with a mechanical Valjoux 7750 chronograph mechanism with a power reserve of 48 hours. The blackened sapphire crystal back cover shows the internal working principle of the exclusive, energy-optimized Porsche Design rotor, which is really eye-catching. The Porsche Design Timepiece No. 1 with a black rubber strap and the Chronograph Titanium Limited Edition with a black calfskin strap are water-resistant to 50 meters (5 ATM).
