Grand Seiko SBGM235 GMT 20th Anniversary Limited Edition Watch Review 2019
This is a limited edition commemorating the 20th anniversary of the 9S Grand Seiko movement.
The price of this Seiko is about 15 times that of ordinary Seiko. Most people who have never been in contact with Grand Seiko will wonder why it is necessary to spend so much money on the dial with the word Grand. I can quickly give an answer now. The answer is art. The entire mechanical watch manufacturing industry is regarded as art. The degree of maintenance of the watch by the Grand Seiko house is incredible. Starring flawless accessories and close to the dial. The price is not only reasonable, but compared with Swiss competitors, the price has gone from too expensive to marginal trading. Still not convinced? Piaget’s XL700p is a brand comparable to the Grand Seikos Spring movement. The price of Grand Seiko’s spring gear is less than US$10,000… Piaget charged US$70,800 for their version… Is it worth it? Well, this is not my decision.
Allow me to introduce SBGM235, a Grand Seikos wearable watch with GMT function. SBGM235 is a limited edition produced for the Grand Seikos Elegance series, limited to 1,000 pieces. The height of this watch is 39.5 mm, the thickness is 13.7 mm, and the strap size is 19 mm, in case this cool alligator strap is not your place for a cup of tea. Personally, the strap has summer time.
Please allow me to show you how to finally realize the GMT function. Watches usually have hour and minute hands. However, the pointer of the watch is blue and unpainted. The pointer is your second time zone reference. All you need to do is to set the watch to your home time or the time you want, and then set the second time zone to any time you want. My only complaint is that the second position has moved the hour hand, which is useful for quickly setting the time when traveling…but to rotate the gmt hand, you will have to set the time in a full circle. It’s a bit cumbersome to set up, but then it’s easy to just jump up the hour hand. Personally, I use the Greenwich Mean Time hand as my home time and the hour hand as the time I go anywhere.
The movement inside this watch is 9s66 movement, which has GMT function, date, and an accuracy of +5 -3 seconds per day. With this kind of movement, you will get an impressive 72-hour power reserve, so you can put it down for the weekend and get it back on Monday, it will still be in operation and you can take it back to the office.
I believe that most replica watches luxury can be dressed up. This particular reference is definitely in terms of dressing. The size of the watch and the polishing of Zratsu really push it towards being well-dressed, which is the goal of Grand Seikos.
The last thing we need to talk about is the Mosiac dial. To be honest, the dial speaks for itself. This is incredible. The artistic Mosiac pattern and silver silver dial are eye-catching. I believe it personally. Any video can show crazier and more beautiful images.
